Service Description

This bundle is designed for managers who want confident teams, stronger standards and fewer avoidable problems. Residential care is complex. Staff are expected to manage relationships, risk, recording, language, boundaries and behaviour, often while learning on the job. When fundamentals are weak or inconsistent, standards slip, incidents increase and managers are left carrying the impact. This five session bundle provides teams with the core understanding, mindsets and practical skills needed to work safely, relationally and professionally. The Practice That Protects bundle consists of five CPD sessions, each two hours in duration, delivered remotely. Sessions are spread across five flexible dates chosen by the service, allowing learning to embed without unnecessary disruption to rotas. All sessions are delivered by experienced practitioners and qualified educators with extensive frontline and leadership experience in residential childcare. The focus is on real practice, real decision making and real consequences, not theory in isolation. Across the bundle, staff strengthen their understanding of keyworking, professional language, recording and reporting, team dynamics and proactive care. The content supports better outcomes for children while also protecting staff and services through clearer judgement, consistency and stronger evidence. Sessions included • Keyworking That Matters • Words That Shape Care: Language Unpacked • Recording and Reporting • Teams: Boundaries and Balance • Firefighting vs Fireproofing Validation and evidence of learning Each session is formally validated. All attendees must complete a structured set of end of session questions designed to evidence learning, understanding and application. Responses are reviewed by qualified assessors, not auto marked and not attendance based. Certificates are issued where learning is evidenced. Where responses do not yet demonstrate sufficient understanding, a free 1:1 follow up is offered to embed learning and secure understanding before certification. This ensures CPD is meaningful, robust and defensible, supporting inspection readiness, quality assurance and sustained improvement in practice. Up to 10 attendees per session for one price.
