Serious Case Review Analysis
Free CPD safeguarding briefing with validated learning and certification
Service Description
This focused 30 minute session explores Serious Case Reviews and what they actually tell us about safeguarding practice in residential childcare. Rather than retelling incidents or focusing on blame, the session looks at the recurring patterns that appear across Serious Case Reviews and how everyday decisions, routines, and professional judgement contribute to safeguarding outcomes. Staff are supported to understand how safeguarding failures rarely sit in one moment. They develop over time through missed cues, assumptions, drift from good practice, weak recording, unclear roles, or professionals not fully understanding their responsibility. The session connects these themes directly to daily life in children’s homes, including shift practice, communication, recording, boundaries, and decision making. This session supports staff and managers to: Understand the purpose and value of Serious Case Reviews Recognise common themes that repeatedly appear across reviews Link everyday practice to safeguarding outcomes Strengthen professional curiosity and judgement Feel more confident discussing safeguarding during inspections Learning is validated through a short scenario based set of questions completed at the end of the session. Responses are reviewed by qualified assessors to evidence understanding and knowledge retention. Where responses do not yet demonstrate sufficient understanding, a free one to one follow up is offered to embed learning and ensure clarity before certification is issued. Ofsted compliant CPD certificates are provided upon successful completion. This session is suitable for new starters, experienced staff, and managers who want safeguarding learning that is grounded, reflective, and directly linked to real practice rather than policy alone. Delivered remotely for up to 10 attendees.
