Service Description

Supervision and debriefs are meant to support staff wellbeing, development, and safe practice. In reality, they often become rushed, uncomfortable, or reduced to a tick box exercise that neither staff nor managers fully trust or use well. This session reframes supervision and debriefs as essential professional tools. It helps staff understand the purpose behind the questions, the value of honest reflection, and how these spaces can reduce pressure, improve judgement, and strengthen practice over time. We explore why supervision can feel invasive or unhelpful when it is not understood properly, and how that leads to stress being offloaded elsewhere through gossip, frustration, or burnout. Staff learn how to use supervision and debriefs to process experiences, make sense of difficult moments, and stay emotionally regulated in demanding roles. For managers, the session focuses on how to facilitate supervision and debriefs in ways that feel safe, purposeful, and supportive rather than interrogative. The aim is to build trust, openness, and professional curiosity, while maintaining accountability and standards. This is a practical, reflective session grounded in real residential experience. It supports healthier teams, clearer thinking, and better outcomes for staff and children alike.
