Accredited CPD | Live Online | 3 Hours | Up to 15 Participants Great residential childcare starts with understanding WHY we do what we do. Whether someone is starting their first shift or has years of experience, the foundations matter. Every interaction, decision and response shapes a child's experience of care. This accredited course gives new starters a strong foundation, helps experienced staff reconnect with the purpose behind their work and builds a shared understanding of good residential childcare across teams. What will participants learn? Through practical scenarios, discussion and reflection, participants explore how to: - Understand their role, responsibilities and professional expectations. - Put children's needs, rights and experiences at the centre of everyday decisions. - Build trust through consistent, respectful relationships. - Understand the difference between completing tasks and providing meaningful care. - Maintain safe boundaries, accountability and professional judgement. - Communicate effectively, work as a team and raise concerns appropriately. - Reflect on their actions and understand how these affect children. The focus is on connecting the WHY behind good practice with the WHAT and HOW of everyday residential care. Who is this course for? Ideal for new starters, induction support, developing practitioners, experienced teams needing a refresher and managers seeking consistency across their homes. It supports, but does not replace, full workplace induction or mandatory training. Delivery, assessment and certification Delivered live online over three hours, with a maximum of 15 participants. Training includes practical teaching, realistic scenarios and professional discussion. Following the session, each participant completes an individual Learning Validation & Reflection. Responses are assessed against the course learning outcomes before certification. Where further learning is needed, a complimentary 30-minute 1:1 follow-up is offered before revalidation.
